Agatha Christie was an English novelist, playwright, and short-story writer widely regarded as the “Queen of Crime.” Born on September 15, 1890, in Torquay, she published 66 detective novels, 14 short-story collections, and numerous plays. Her books have sold more than 2 billion copies, making her one of the best-selling authors in history. She created two of fiction’s most famous detectives: Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote six romance novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott.
