Ann Major is the pen name of Margaret Major Cleaves, an American romance novelist born on February 13, 1946, in Texas. She has been one of the best-known authors in contemporary category romance for more than four decades.

Began writing after the birth of her first child.
Sold her first novel after approximately six years of writing.
Founding board member of the Romance Writers of America.
Co-authored the influential article “The Contemporary Light Romance,” later included in the reference book Writing and Selling the Romance Novel.
